
After an outstanding performance during the 2006 campaign the Belles squad showed they are program on the rise.
Both the MIAA Defensive and Freshman of the Year came from Saint Mary’s as Anne Cusack and Lorna Slupczynski took the honors. They were key components to a squad that posted a 17-10 overall record and reach the finals of two in-season tournaments and helped the Belles host a first-round MIAA Tournament game for the first time in seven years.
Under the guidance of Julie Schroeder-Biek ’88, who is in her 13th season, Saint Mary’s has been a stalwart among the best academic teams in the nation. The 2005 and 2006 squad received AVCA national recognition by posting back-to-back GPA’s of 3.3.
