
Chuck Rubino will serve as the interim head coach of the Belles tennis squad during the 2008 season.
Recently Rubino retired from his position as a teacher at Dowagiac Union High School were he instructed health, physical education and drivers education courses from 1986-2007. In addition to his teaching roles, he served as the boys and girls tennis and wrestling coach. He coached the boys program for four years and the girls team for six years.
During the 2004 season he guided the girls tennis squad to a co-regional championship and helped the Chieftains to an 11th place finish at the state tournament. It was the first time in school history the tennis program qualified for the state tournament. The following season Dowagiac won the regional title outright and finished 19th in the state.
As a wrestling coach, Rubino was named the Regional Coach of the Year on six occasions by the MHSWA and earned Southwest Coach of the Year honors twice by the SWMCA. He has coached wrestling in a variety of capacities for over 30 years.
