Since joining the MIAA during the 1997-98 school year, one of the most consistent teams on the Saint Mary’s campus has been the Belles tennis squad.

In each of the last nine years the team has posted a winning record in league play and has placed at least one player on the All-Conference squad in all 10 seasons the Belles have competed in the league. On three separate occasions a Saint Mary’s player was honored with the MIAA’s Sue Little Sportsmanship Award.

From 2001-04 the Belles were the toast of the entire league when they captured four consecutive MIAA tournament titles and won the overall team championship in three of those seasons. Saint Mary’s was rewarded with an invitation to the NCAA Tournament after winning both the MIAA regular season and tournament championships in 2002.
