My name is Taryn McCarty and I am going into my junior year at Saint Mary’s College. I live in Holmdel, New Jersey and live with my parents there. I’m an only child and my parents cannot believe that I have picked Australia as a study abroad program. It’s on the other side of the world! I’m not sure what I want to do in my future career but hopefully going to Australia will help me better know some of my goals as well as myself. I chose to study in Australia because when in my life will I ever get the opportunity to travel to a country so far away and live there for a long period of time? I leave this Thursday morning and am very excited to arrive on Saturday morning. I leave from Newark to LAX, then from LAX to Sydney, and finally from Sydney to Perth. Packing was difficult due to the new laws concerning luggage but I’m trying have as little as possible so I can shop when I get there. I can’t wait to arrive and see the hotel I am living at and make new friends.
