Admission Requirements
At Saint Mary's College, we take into consideration a wide variety of accomplishments and experiences. We pay particular attention to the unique qualities each applicant possesses, including:
- Academic accomplishments
- Extra-curriculars
- Community service
- Personal essay
- Recommendations from counselors, teachers, coaches and other personal acquaintances
Homeschooled students are encouraged to apply and arrange a meeting to discuss admissions qualifications.
Academics
You'll need to have completed a minimum of 16 academic units (one unit represents one year of study) that include:
- Four years of English
- Three years of college prep mathematics
- Two years of laboratory science
- Two years of the same foreign language
- Two years of social studies
- Three additional units in any of the above areas, for a minumim of 16 units
Classes at the honors or advanced placement level are recommended. The middle range GPA for the 2010 first year class was 3.41-3.98.
Standardized College Admissions Tests
Either the SAT or the ACT with the optional writing test are accepted. The middle range results for the 2010 first year class were as follows:
- ACT: 23-28
- SAT Critical Reading: 510-620
- SAT Math: 510-620
- SAT Writing: 510-620
