Saint Mary’s College Receives ADDY® Award Recognition

February 16, 2009 (Notre Dame, Ind.)—The Marketing and Advertising Club (MAC) of Michiana awarded the Saint Mary’s College Office of Special Events with a 2009 Silver ADDY® Award Thursday night at the annual ADDY Award Gala. The award was presented to the College for its 2008-2009 Moreau Center for the Arts Season Brochure. Credits go to Christopher A. Sallak, patron services and marketing manager in the Office of Special Events, who served as the project’s creative director/copy writer; Richard Baxter, director of the Office of Special Events, who was the copywriter; Mary Meehan Firtl, graphic designer in the College’s Department of Integrated Marketing Communications, who was the project’s graphic designer; and freelance photographer Matt Cashore, who handled the photography.
In addition, MAC awarded South Bend marketing agency Villing & Company with a silver ADDY in the Annual Report category for the Saint Mary's College ’07 annual report. Karen McDonald ‘76, assistant vice president of the College’s Department of Integrated Marketing Communications, served as creative director on the project, supported by college editor and director of publications, Scot Erin Briggs and her staff.
The American Advertising Federation (AAF) conducts the ADDY Awards through its 200 member advertising clubs and 15 districts. The competition is a three-tiered, national contest recognizing excellence in advertising. Entrants compete at the local level, and winners advance to district and then national-level competition. The ADDY Awards represent the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising from media of all types, creative by all sizes and entrants of all levels from anywhere in the world.
