International Costs and Financing

Annual Costs 2011-2012

Below are the costs for the current academic year.  We expect incremental increases each year, and will always notify you as soon as the new information is available.  Please note that if you choose to stay on campus during the summer, you can expect additional housing and tuition fees.  Costs are based on a minimum of 12 credits each semester.  As an international student, you must maintain full-time status and have health insurance.

Academic Scholarships

Academic scholarships are based on all aspects of your International Application for Admission.  You will automatically be reviewed for merit-based scholarships as your application is reviewed for admission to Saint Mary's.  These awards range from $6,000 to $20,000 per year, based on the strength of your application.  All academic scholarships are renewable for a maximum of 8 semesters as long as you meet specific GPA requirements at Saint Mary's. 

Need-based Financial Assistance

Saint Mary's College distributes a limited amount of need-based aid to international students, depending on availability of funds and your family's level of need.  To qualify, you must submit the College Board PROFILE form.  These funds are limited, so we encourage you to submit the PROFILE well in advance of the February 15 application deadline.

Employment

International students are permitted to work on campus during the academic year and can anticipate earning between $1,500 and $2,000 per year.  Saint Mary's limits first-year students to working less than 10 hours per week during the academic year, but you may be able to work additional hours during holiday breaks.

Certification of Finance Form

As part of the admission process, international students must submit the Certification of Finances form and a supporting financial statement.  This allows the College to verify the source of funding for your educational expenses, which is required before we issue an I-20 or DS-2019.  You must provide an original financial document from a personal account, sponsor, loan, or scholarship in the amount of $43,000; the estimated total of tuition, fees, housing, food, books, insurance, and personal expenses.  These documents must also be provided to the U.S. Embassy abroad during your visa interview.
