International Admission

Your Application

International students are encouraged to apply as early as possible.  Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until February 15.  Applications received after February 15 will be reviewed if space is available.

  1. The completed Common Application.  You must complete the Common Application, the Saint Mary's College Supplement and the International Supplement.
  2. Your essay.  The application provides choices for topics that will allow you to demonstrate your English language ability and share your personality with the Admission Committee.
  3. A complete, official, certified and true copy of your secondary school record and any post-secondary coursework.  All records must be translated to English by a person other than the applicant or the applicant's family.  Your record should include certified copies of any state or national examination results (i.e. IGCSE, GCE "A" level, or Senior School Secondary Exams).
  4. The Secondary School Report from the Common Application.  This recommendation form must be completed by a school administrator or counselor.
  5. Official sore reports from the SAT I.  If your native language is not English, or if the language of instruction in your secondary school is not English, you may take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) instead of the SAT.
  6. The Certification of Finances form.  In order to receive an F-1 or J-1 visa, once you have received your financial aid package, you must demonstrate an ability to pay the remaining fees for your Saint Mary's education. 
  7. Saint Mary's has a limited pool of need-based financial aid available to international students.  If you are interested in applying for financial aid, you must submit the College Board PROFILE.

Committee Review

Once you have submitted items 1-6 on this list, your application can be reviewed by the Admission Committee.  The Committee's decision will be based on your grades, the rigor of your curriculum, your writing ability, your fit for Saint Mary's College, and your recommendation. 

Next Steps

If you are accepted, and once we have received your Certification of Finances and your financial aid application, we will send you a packet that includes your letter of admission, scholarship and financial aid information, and the I-20 or DS-2019 form that you need to obtain your F-1 or J-1 visa. 

A $400 deposit is required to reserve your place in the incoming class.  If you change your mind before May 1, we will refund your deposit.  After May 1, the deposit is non-refundable.
