Post-graduate Service: Members of the Class of 2009
inspired to help others

Erin McClowry '09 will work with PLACE Corps.
in Los Angeles, Calif.
With Commencement behind them, our recent graduates are looking forward to taking the next step. For some of them, that means entering the business world or taking their first graduate-level courses. For others, it means giving of their time and talent through post-graduate service positions.

Erin McClowry ’09 majored in education at Saint Mary’s. This summer she will begin a position with PLACE (Partners in Los Angeles Catholic Education) Corps. Erin says she decided to go into service “primarily so I could teach and so that I could help others. I thoroughly enjoyed my student teaching experience at Saint Mary’s and I wanted to continue as soon as possible.” She will also begin work on her master's degree at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Erin found out about PLACE Corps. at an Education Service Fair held at Saint Mary’s last fall. The College holds job and service fairs throughout the year, which put students in touch with future employers and opportunities for internships and networking.

Social work
major Deanna Molosky ’09 was also inspired to take a post-graduate service position. She will be serving with the Vincentian Service Corps in St. Louis, Mo. “I chose to do service after graduation because I wanted to help the world in a new way.” Deanna, who will also begin work on her Master’s in Social Work (MSW), says Saint Mary’s has prepared her for the service experience. “Saint Mary’s has allowed me to become a leader in more ways than I may even realize. I have confidence in my abilities and this allows me to take on new adventures with courage.”
