Mark Hamilton
Mark Hamilton begins his tenth season with Saint Mary's in the fall of 2011, having led his squad to six MIAA championships in the last nine years.
Hamilton piloted a squad that made their initial NCAA Championship showing in the 2003 championships in which the team placed fourth in the country. One of his golfers, Stefanie Simmerman, won the Individual Medalist honor, becoming the College's first national champion. The Belles also qualified for the 2004, 2005, 2009, 2010, and 2011 NCAA championships. The team finished fourth in the country in 2010 and 2011 in addition to their 2003 placement in their NCAA postseason debut.
“I believe that this program can compete on the national level every year. It’s been immensely rewarding to watch this program become a presence on the national scene,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton has taken his talents amassed from over 20 years as a professional instructor, and tailored them to a talent-rich squad at Saint Mary's, enabling them to exceed their goals in his first year with the team. After teaching at venues such as Medinah Country Club in Illinois, the Palm Beach Polo Club, the Florida Golf School, and the US Golf Academy, he settled his family in South Bend where he has been teaching for the past 16 years.
Hamilton graduated from Ferris State University (Mich.) in 1989 with a B.S. in marketing and a minor in professional golf management.
