Focus your talents on a specialized area of education with a minor in English as a New Language and Bilingual Bicultural Education. You will gain expertise in classroom approaches and applications for bilingual and bicultural students. With courses exploring topics in linguistics, learning theories, curriculum and assessment, and special considerations for the education of bilingual and bicultural students, you will develop your abilities as a practitioner to succeed in a variety of classroom settings. Graduates will be reflective educators who are able to analyze and grow from their teaching experiences throughout their professional careers.

Minor in English as a New Language and Bilingual Bicultural Education (15 hours)

  • EDUC 201 Foundations for Teaching in a Multicultural Society
  • EDUC 430 Foundations of English as a New Language (ENL) and Bilingual/Bicultural Education (BBE)
  • EDUC 432 Methods and Materials of English as a New Language (ENL) and Bilingual/Bicultural Education (BBE)
  • ENLT History of the English Language, or another suitable linguistics course may be taken with departmental approval
  • One of the following:
    • ANTH 141 Culture and Society and ANTH 253 Survey I: Culture and Language
    • COMM 350 Intercultural Communication
    • ICS 201 Introduction to InterCultural Studies
