Encuentro ~ Encounter Yourself

Saint Mary's College invites you to meet other high school women who aspire to become first-generation college students. At Encuentro: Encounter Yourself you will explore who you are and the person you want to become. You will share in thought-provoking academic, cultural, and spiritual experiences designed especially for you.

Encuentro: Encounter Yourself will help you to:

  • Think about your future
  • Picture yourself in college
  • Develop confidence in your ability to succeed

During the week you will:

  • Preview college life, including staying in a residence hall
  • Take classes taught by Saint Mary's College professors
  • Explore culture and its impact in the classroom and on our lives
  • Share in the excitement of cultural activities
  • Participate in community-building exercises and workshops that encourage the development of a positive self-image

Who can participate:

  • Young women whose parents did not attend college
  • Current high school freshman, sophomore, or junior

How to apply:

Please complete and mail the application and recommendation forms by the deadline noted.

The following items must be included to make your application complete:

All students accepted to the program will receive materials, supplies, and room and board. The fee is $25 for the entire week, which includes a non-refundable $10 registration fee. The $15 balance will be due upon acceptance into the program. Participants will be required to provide their own transportation to and from the program.
