The Spirit of Service Awards honor individuals who exemplify the mission of Saint Mary’s College to prepare women for roles of leadership and action.

Down the Avenue raises funds to support the work of the Saint Mary’s College Office for Civic and Social Engagement (OCSE). This unique resource center encourages students, faculty, and staff to give of themselves and their gifts through programs in volunteer service and community engagement. The OCSE carries out its mission through partnerships with schools and agencies in the Michiana community and provides a core of Saint Mary’s College volunteers who are a vital source of help and relief to those in need.

Proceeds will also be used to endow a scholarship honoring Carmen Murphy, the Spirit of Service Community Honoree.  The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student with financial need who is actively involved in volunteer service to the Michiana community.
