I want to be a social worker because I believe in people.  Everyone has a collection of unique talents that exist so they can be shared with the world.  For me, social work is a way to share the wonderful talents I am blessed with, while simultaneously nurturing the talents of others.  I could not ask for a more exciting and fulfilling career choice, and I cannot wait to encounter the challenges and rewards that await me in my professional life as a social worker.

I feel that social work is my calling. All my life I have been the counselor, advocate, and the one searching for something better. I could not image a life where I was not fully devoted to creating change and making a positive impact in people’s lives. Majoring in social work has helped me develop my skills and learn more about the helping profession. I am now competent and capable of creating the change I have always desired.

From a young age, I held a strong passion for helping others to make a positive difference in the world. Growing up, my family centered much of their time around  doing service, making it a core value and vital part of my life. Then, when I became a student at Saint Mary's College, I realized how pursuing a career as a social worker was my true calling. Therefore, I look forward to having the opportunity to build intimate relationships. Ultimately, I am excited to help work to empower others by providing services that will hopefully assist in improving their quality of life.
