Belles Finish Ninth in First 6k of Season

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Saint Mary's College cross country team finished ninth in a field of 15 college-division teams with a 282 at the Gibson Family Invitational hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Julia Kenney was the top finisher for the Belles for the first time of her young collegiate career. The freshman finished the 6k in 24:53 for 42nd place. Not far behind Kenney was senior co-captain Megan McClowry, whose 25:01 secured 46th place.
Joanne Almond was the next Belles harrier to cross the finish line on Saturday with a time of 25:35 (60th). Catie Salyer and Arianne Rodriguez rounded out the top five for the Belles on Saturday. Salyer finished in 66th with a time of 25:46 while Rodriguez took 68th with a 25:49.
The Belles will compete at Manchester College next Saturday in the Manchester Invitational, which is schedule to begin at 11:00 a.m.
