Meet the Class of 2013


This August, Saint Mary's College welcomed the class of 2013 to the Saint Mary's family.  The class included 441 first-year students from 37 states and 4 countries, 16 valedictorians and 5 salutatorians, and 77 students who maintained perfect 4.0 GPA's throughout their high school careers.  One hundred and eight students had an alumna connection to the College, and one student's mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother all graduated from Saint Mary's.

Outside the Classroom



  • 681 Advanced Placement courses were selected by incoming first year students as part of their high school curriculum.  Five students selected six AP courses in their senior year.

  • 38 College courses were completed by members of the class of 2012 while they were enrolled in high school. 

  • 96 Students were selected as captain of a sport during their senior year.  One student was selected as captain of three athletics teams during her senior year.

  • 63 International Baccalaureate courses were completed by incoming first year students.

  • 10 Students were elected Senior Class President. 

  • 7 Students were named Senior Editor of their high school yearbook.

  • 5 Students were home schooled.

  • 4 Students maintained perfect attendance throughout their high school careers.

  • 6 Students earned the Gold Award in scouting; 3 earned the Silver Award; 1 earned the Bronze Award

  • 2 Students completed their high school careers in less than four years.

  • 2 Students qualified for Nationals in Irish Dance; one was the Irish Dancing Open North American Champion and placed 4th in the World Competition.

  • 1 Student was a member of the Aguila Youth Leadership Institute and was recommended to be a UNICEF Ambassador

  • 1 Student Participated in the Junior Olympics

  • 1 Student was a member of Xtreme Force--an elite hip hop and jazz company that has opened on national tours for recording artists and has appeared on MTV.

  • 1 Student founded the Invisible Children Club which raised money for children in Uganda.

  • 1 Student earned the softball defensive player of the year for 2007 and the softball offensive player of the year in 2008.

  • 1 Student was the US President's Volunteer Service Award recipient.

  • 1 Student wrote, directed, and produced a musical.

  • 1 Student is a National Merit Commended Scholar and also hiked Mount Whitney which is 14,495 feet tall.

  • 1 Student was a member of every band in her high school for all four years.

  • 1 Student helped establish a Kain Orphanage in Norther Thailand along the Thai-Burma border.

  • 1 Student helped train seeing-eye dogs.

  • 1 Student was a member of a three-time State Champion Spell Bowl team as a well as a member of a two-time State Champion Academic Super Bowl team.

  • 1 Student was a crew member on a Tall Ship for one week.

  • 1 Student received the Pittsburgh Tribune Review's Outstanding Youth Citizen Award

  • 1 Student was a member of the executive Council for her high school Dance Marathon which raised $29,031 to benefit Riley Children's Hospital.

  • 1 Student performed at Saint Peter's Square in the Vatican.

  • 1 Student is a triplet
