Meet the Class of 2012

This August, Saint Mary's College welcomed the class of 2012 to the Saint Mary's family.  The class included 455 first-year students from 34 states and 10 countries, 16 valedictorians and 4 salutatorians, and 64 students who maintained perfect 4.0 GPA's throughout their high school careers.  One hundred and seven students had an alumna connection to the College, and one student's mother, four aunts, and grandmother all graduated from Saint Mary's.

Outside the Classroom

  • 798 Advanced Placement courses were selected by incoming first year students as part of their high school curriculum.  Seven students selected six AP courses in their senior year.
  • 156 College courses were completed by members of the class of 2012 while they were enrolled in high school. 
  • 108 Students were selected as captain of a sport during their senior year.  One student was selected as captain of six athletics teams during her high school career.
  • 34 International Baccalaureate courses were completed by incoming first year students.
  • 13 Students were elected Senior Class President.  Two students were eleceted class president for three consecutive years.
  • 5 Students were home schooled.
  • 4 Students maintained perfect attendance throughout their high school careers.
  • 3 Students earned the Gold Award in scouting; 2 earned the Silver Award.
  • 2 Students completed their high school careers in less than four years.
  • 2 Students qualified for Nationals in Irish Dance.
  • 1 Student was the National Champion of the Junior Division of the U.S. Synchronized Skating Team.
  • 1 Student participated in three mission trips to Biloxi to help rebuild after Hurricane Katrina.
  • 1 Student can play six different instruments.
  • 1 Student spent nearly ten years training and performing with the Grand Rapids Ballet Company.
  • 1 Student was included in Teen People's "20 Teens Who are Changing the World" for her efforts to benefit those in need.
  • 1 Student worked as a Congressional Page in the Idaho State Senate.
  • 1 Student competed in the Odyssey of the Mind World Competition.
  • 1 Student was named Altar Server of the Year.
  • 1 Student was a member of a crew team that won two Gold Medals at the National Regatta.
  • 1 Student is a designated puppy raiser for the Seeing Eye Program.
  • 1 Student founded the Latin Americans Pursuing Dreams Club in her high school.
  • 1 Student had her science research published in The Journal of Perinatology.  It was entitled "Timing of Prenatal Steroids and its Effect on Respiratory Distress Syndrome."
  • 1 Student was the founding president of the International Cultures Club at her high school.
  • 1 Student holds a Black Belt in karate.
  • 1 Student was a member of a competitive Hip-Hop team.
  • 1 Student ran a lemonade stand that raised over $18,000 in just two days!
