Financial Aid Timeline for High School Seniors and Transfer Students
Planning to Enroll for Fall 2008

Apply for admission (online)

  • Early Decision deadline is 11/15/07
  • Regular Decision deadline is 2/15/08

Complete the 2008-09 Profile as soon as possible, but before March 1st

  • The Profile is available beginning in October.
  • Saint Mary’s code is 1702.
  • There is a $25 fee for filing this application.

Apply for your Federal Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) online

  • The PIN serves as your electronic signature and provides access to your personal information in various U.S. Department of Education systems.
  • The student and the parent will each need an individual PIN.
  • Use the same PIN number each year.
  • The parent will only have one PIN, regardless of how many children are applying for aid.

Complete the 2008-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  • Between January 1 and March 1
  • Saint Mary’s code is 001836.

Receive your preliminary Financial Aid award letter

If requested by Financial Aid, submit verification documents, which may include:

  • Signed copies of 2007 federal tax returns for the student and parent(s)
  • Copies of all 2007 W2s (or K-1's) for the student and parent(s)
  • Verification worksheet

Submit your deposit

Receive your final award letter

  • Information about applying for loans will be enclosed with your final award letter.

Complete loan paperwork

Notify the Financial Aid Office of any other aid the student will receive

Receive the bill for fall semester in July

  • Subtract the financial aid from the amount due.
  • Make payment arrangements for any remaining balance.
  • Note: This bill is for the fall semester only and does not incorporate spring charges or aid.

Take steps to secure a student job

  • Jobs are posted on our web page
  • Postings for 2008-09 will be active in early August 2008

Receive the bill for spring semester in December

  • Subtract the financial aid from the amount due.
  • Make payment arrangements for any remaining balance.
