8 Parent Action Ideas to Increase Employer Involvement at Saint Mary's College

We invite all parents to partner with us in facilitating a student's career success by sharing your personal and professional experiences; identifying internship and entry-level professional opportunities with high-quality organizations; and sourcing candidates to fill positions within your organizations.

In particular, please consider the following:

  1. Place the CCO (cco@saintmarys.edu) on your departmental listserv for distributing announcements about internship and entry-level positions. The CCO staff will post the information to Go BELLES for viewing by current students and recent alumnae.
  2. Source candidates from the resume database of Go BELLES. Request access by writing to the CCO (cco@saintmarys.edu). The service is free.
  3. Visit campus to conduct an Employer/Career Information Session. The CCO will arrange for comfortable facilities, publicize the event, and work with the faculty to ensure a respectable student turnout.
  4. Conduct campus interviews (in-person or telephone) to fill internship and full-time positions. The CCO will work with you to promote your opportunity and arrange an interview schedule.
  5. Represent or invite your employer to participate in the annual career fairs to fill internship and entry-level professional positions. Write or call for more information.
  6. Notify the CCO of any job/career fairs in your area (geographic or careers) that would be open to Saint Mary’s students. The information would be posted to Go BELLES and The Pathfinder (monthly newsletter).
  7. When visiting ND for campus recruiting activities plan a visit to the CCO.
  8. Invite/encourage your professional colleagues to fill positions using Options 1-6.
