Volunteer for Admission and the Alumnae VISA program
What is Alumnae VISA?
The Alumnae Volunteers In Support of Admission (VISA) members work on behalf of the Admission Office as a resource to prospective students, their parents and high school guidance personnel. Alumnae VISA members share their own Saint Mary's College experiences with students to encourage them to consider SMC.
Contact with prospective students is established through the various Alumnae VISA programs. The Admission Office will help to launch some of these relationships but members are also asked to initiate some contact on their own. Each VISA member may choose activities that are compatible with her own time limitations and interests.
How can you get involved?
• Represent Saint Mary’s at College Nights, Days and Fairs
• Referrals
We invite alumnae to add the names of their daughters and daughter’s friends into our communication system.
• Letters of Recommendation and Endorsed Applications
The Admission Committee welcomes letters of recommendation from Alumnae VISA members in support of applicants they have come to know. You may also show your support of an applicant by giving her the Alumnae Endorsed Application you receive in the mail each fall. Sign the top of her application and write your graduation year and the $30 application fee will be waived!
• Hosting Receptions for Prospective Students
• Contacting Students by Phone
Current Saint Mary’s students tell us that a call from a faculty member, student, or alumna was a determining factor in their decision to enroll at Saint Mary’s. The personal touch extended to them by the entire Saint Mary’s community makes them feel like a part of a family even before moving on to campus.
