Alumnae Association Board of Directors

Mission Statement The Alumnae Board of Directors provides volunteer leadership for the Alumnae Association by working with the Saint Mary's College community to design and promote opportunities for alumnae to connect with each other and the College. In doing so, the Board serves the College in the ongoing development of a strong Alumnae Association which supports and advances the mission of Saint Mary's College.

Rebecca Votto '93

Rebecca Votto graduated in 1993 with a B.A. in Political Science. She also completed graduate studies at DePaul University. Upon completion of her studies at DePaul, Rebecca began working in mergers and acquisitions. While living in Chicago, she was active in the Chicago Alumnae Club. Rebecca was the recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumna Award in 2003. Recently, Rebecca started her own consultancy firm where she assists her clients execute on mergers and acquisition strategies. Rebecca is actively involved in the Los Angeles Alumnae Club. Rebecca and her husband, Matt Bennett, live in Hermosa Beach, California.

Karen McNamara Weaver '91

Karen McNamara Weaver graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a minor in Computer Science. She has been working in Information Technology since graduation. She is currently a Business Area Manager and consultant with IBM Corporation in the Global Services division. During the eight years that she lived in Dallas, Karen held various leadership positions in the Dallas/Fort Worth Alumnae Club; including two years as President.  For the last 8 years Karen has been an active member in the Kansas City Alumnae Club.  She received the SMC Alumnae VISA award for 2001-2002. She and her husband David reside in Bettendorf, IA with their two daughters.

Abby Van Vlerah '04

Abby Van Vlerah graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Humanistic Studies and a double minor in American History and Italian. She earned her Master of Arts degree in American Studies with a concentration in Historic Preservation from the University of Wyoming in 2006. Since her graduation from UW, Abby has worked in higher education. She served at the University of Wyoming, Saint Mary's College, Trine University, and Mercy College, NY as the Director of the PACT mentoring program. She is currently persuing her doctoral degree in American Culture Studies at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Abby enjoys spending time at her lake home in Angola, Indiana, traveling and volunteering.

Sarah K. Brown '05
Charleston, WV

Sarah K. Brown graduated magna cum laude in 2005 with a BA in Philosophy and Political Science and minors in Women's Studies and Economics. She received a Juris Doctorate from American University Washington College of Law in Washington, DC in 2008 and completed a judicial clerkship with The Honorable Martha Craig Daughtrey, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, in Nashville, Tennessee. Along with her husband, Kevin Baker, Sarah is a founding member of the law firm Baker & Brown, PLLC, in Charleston, West Virginia. Sarah now practices law with the non-profit law firm Mountain State Justice, representing low-income West Virginians facing home foreclosure. Sarah is also a member of the Board of Directors of the YWCA of Charleston, focusing on racial injustice, and volunteers with the Friends of Clay Center. Sarah enjoys cooking, baking, reading, running, and traveling.

Dr. Kelly O'Shea Carney '84
Coopersburg, PA

 Kelly O’Shea Carney graduated summa cum laude in 1984 with a degree in psychology and a minor in philosophy.  Following graduation, she served as a Holy Cross Associate in Portland, Oregon where she worked with older adults.  Following that experience, Kelly earned her PhD in Counseling Psychology with a focus in geropsychology from Southern Illinois University in 1990.  Since that time, she has been serving older adults in a variety of clinical capacities.  Currently she is the Director of Eldercare Services for Community Service Group in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  In this role, Kelly is involved in the development, oversight and clinical supervision of a variety of services directed at supporting older adults and their caregivers.  She sits on a variety of Boards related to aging, including the American Psychological Association Committee on Aging and the Pennsylvania Behavioral Health and Aging Coalition.  She is also an active member of her local parish and enjoys volunteering at the local soup kitchen.  Kelly and her husband, Gary, have three teenage children who have been actively researching colleges.  In the process, Kelly has become convinced that there is no place quite as wonderful as Saint Mary’s College.  She looks forward to Alumnae Board meetings as a good excuse to visit our lovely campus!

Jill Moore Clouse ’99
Chicago, IL

Jill Moore Clouse graduated with a major in History and a minor in Psychology. After graduation she moved to Chicago and worked in the corporate world in a human resources/business development capacity. She has her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Policy and Administration from Northwestern University and currently works part-time for the Kellogg School of Management and the School of Education at Northwestern as a Career Coach. Jill and her husband Michael recently moved to the suburbrs of Chicago and have a five-year-old son and a 3 year old daughter.

Cass Rydesky Connor
Atlanta, GA
Cass Rydesky Connor transferred to Saint Mary's as a Junior and graduated in 1960 with a BS in Education. After graduation, with artists Liz King '60 and Karen Eisen '63, she served nearly three years in Brazil with the Sisters of the Hly Cross as one of the original Papal Volunteers to Latin America. Cass earned a MA in Communication at Stanford University, and began Doctoral study in instructional design at Georgia State Universtiy. She worked in instructional TV for the State of North Carolina and instructional design for the Pittsburgh, PA school system, served as PR/media director for Emory University School of Nursing, and video communications manager for a Forbes 300 company. As an Associate Broker focusing on residential real estate for 21 years with Prudential Georgia Realty, Cass has been active in her profession as President of Women's Council of Realtors--Atlanta Chapter, and Secretary of GA State WCR, and Board Member of GA State CRS (Certified Residential Specialists), and Director of the Atlanta Board of Realtors. She's been honored with the Captain of Industry, Circle of Excellence, President's Circle, and Phoenix awards. Active in the community, Cass has been involved in Alumnae Clubs in Pittsburgh, PA and Atlanta, GA, served as founding Director and President for the Atlanta Women's Network and the Board of Directors Network, board member of GA Council on Child Abuse, board member for the St. Jude the Apostle Elementary School, St. Jude Choir member, volunteer on WABE-FM public radio, and she helps build a house for Habitat for Humanity each year with the Realton community. Cass lives in Atlanta, GA and has a sister and two daughers who attended Saint Mary's. She has three young granddaughters whom she's actively promoting Saint Mary's.

Nora Barry Fischer '73

Nora Barry Fischer ’73 graduated magna cum laude, with a B.A. in History and Humanistic Studies. She received a Juris Doctorate from Notre Dame Law School in 1976 and was admitted to practice in Illinois, Pennsylvania and West Virginia; Third Circuit Court of Appeals; U.S. District Courts of Northern District of Illinois; Western District of Pennsylvania; Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia; and United States Supreme Court. She was Case Manager on the Executive Committee at Meyer, Darragh, Buckler, Bebenek & Eck from 1987 to 1991. She is a former National Institute of Trial Advocacy Instructor for the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and Duquesne University School of Law. Nora was a Partner and Practice Group Leader with Pietragallo, Bosick & Gordon. She is currently the District Court Judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania, sitting in Pittsburgh. Judge Fischer has acted as a teacher and seminar leader at various law schools and before various bar groups addressing trial tactics; ADR; e-discovery and substantive areas of the law. Nora and her husband Donald have three children.

Kathleen Gibboney '73

Kathy Gibboney graduated from Saint Mary’s in 1973 with a BS in Chemistry. She also completed an MS in Chemistry at the University of Denver and an MBA in Finance at Xavier University. She began her career in Pharmaceutical R&D at Whitehall Labs in Elkhart, IN immediately after graduation. After completing her graduate work in Denver she moved to Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in New York and finally landed back home in Cincinnati at Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals. After 18 years and three mergers, she transferred to Procter and Gamble Pharmaceuticals, where she developed and managed the Research Compound Repository. Kathy retired from P&G in 2009. She is currently an Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at Xavier University. Kathy has been active in the Cincinnati Alumnae Club for more than 30 years, spending several years as president. She has also been very active in the American Chemical Society for more than 30 years, serving in many positions both at the local and national level. Most recently Kathy has been involved in the start-up of a new non-profit organization in Cincinnati, ITNGreaterCincinnati, which provides transportation for seniors and visually impaired adults. In her spare time Kathy enjoys reading, travel and spending time with her family, including 27 nieces and nephews and 22 great-nieces and nephews.

Annette H. Isom '83
Glen Ellyn, IL

Annette Isom graduated from Saint Mary’s College in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and minor degrees in Math and Computer Science. She also attended graduate courses in Systems Management at the University of Southern California. She began her career in Information Technology at Ford Aerospace & Communications Corporation after graduation. Since that time – she has worked in information technology, marketing and consulting positions at TRW, United Stationers, Natural Gas Pipeline, Chicago Options Board and AT&T. Annette is currently an AVP with AT&T in the Consumer & Mobility Marketing group and is responsible for post sales customer communications and legal/regulatory compliance. She stays close to Saint Mary’s with involvement in on and off campus activities. Annette lives in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and has two college aged sons.

Angeline Johnson '07
South Bend, IN

Angeline Johnson graduated from Saint Mary’s College in 2007, earning her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing, Management and International Business. Angeline began her career with 1st Source Corporation as a Corporate Trainee in Management, and is currently working in Cash Management specializing in business products online. As a 1st generation college student Angeline worked to assist others in also reaching their full potential through numerous high school mentoring programs, college recruitment of underrepresented backgrounds and raised awareness on campus by way of multiple student clubs and boards. As an undergraduate Angeline was president of La Fuerza, president of the Student Diversity Board, initiated the annual Hunger Banquet on campus, and Co-Founded the Diverse Students’ Leadership Conference in 2005. She was recognized for Empowering Women and Eliminating Racism during the 2007 YWCA Tribute to Women, and also received the 2007 Down the Avenue Spirit of Service award. Since graduating Angeline has been involved in planning a Multicultural Alumnae Group for Saint Mary’s College, while also volunteering time with the STAR program and various children’s activities at the Center for the Homeless in South Bend, Indiana. Angeline is currently remodeling her 1st home and planning a wedding with her fiancé David W. Daley.

Linda Kawecki ’79
Dallas, TX

Linda Kawecki ’79 received a B.B.A. degree with a major in Accounting and a minor in Math and Computer Science. She earned an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University in 1989. Starting her career in public accounting, Linda later worked in the airline and electric utility industries. In 1990, she went to work for a predecessor company of Tenet Healthcare in their Strategic Planning Department. From 1995 through 2005, she served as Tenet's Director of Financial Analysis. Since 2005, she has been stay at home mom to her three children. Linda has been active in the Saint Mary's Dallas Alumnae Club for almost 30 years, serving as President and Vice President in the early 90's and more recently as Treasurer('05-'08). She has volunteered with the Youth Leadership Dallas program for 10th graders, her local parish church, and the schools of her children. Linda also enjoys daily cycling, a monthly book club, travel, and cooking. As time allows, she also takes on freelance professional organizing and scrapbook design projects. Linda and her husband, Michael Hellinghausen (ND'78) reside in Dallas, TX with their children ages 12, 13 and 18.

Monica Stallworth Kolimas '74
Hagerstown, MD


Dr. Stallworth is Chief of Staff and Chief Medical Officer at the Western Maryland Hospital Center She comes to WMHC after being faculty at Harvard Medical School.  She is a Harvard trained ethicist and geriatrician. Prior to being on faculty at Harvard Medical School, she was on faculty at Georgetown University Medical School in Washington D.C. where she was responsible for educating primary care residents and medical students in geriatrics as well as directing Geriatric Assessment Clinic and Home Care Programs.
Dr. Stallworth graduated from Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and completed her residency at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston Texas. Dr. Stallworth is also fond of the number 3. She has done 3 fellowships. She has board certification in 3 areas including geriatrics and palliative medicine. She also has 3 masters’ degrees, not only one from Harvard University in clinical research but most recently she completed a masters in health care administration. In her spare time while she was in Boston, she was Medical Director of Neville Center for Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in Cambridge, MA and the Hospice Medical Director of Evercare, MA. She is a published author in geriatrics and has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences. She is also a published poet.
Dr. Stallworth has been honored 2009 Top Family Doctor by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.
Now that she resides in Hagerstown she hopes to contribute to the geriatric care of the Hagerstown community as well as to resume skiing, ice skating and golfing on a more routine basis.

 Kathryn Wiedl Mettler '63

After graduation from Saint Mary's College, Kathryn Wiedl Mettler went on to Emory University School of Medicine where she completed her M.D. in 1981. Kathryn has Board Certification in Gastroenterology and in Internal Medicine. She is currently in private practice in Gastroenterology. She is an active member and leader of the medical staff at Northside Hospital in Atlanta where she was Chief of the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit from 1993 to 1995. She also served as clinical instructor in the Department of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, and as a research assistant at Abbot Laboratories. Kathryn is a member of the Medical Associations of Atlanta and Georgia, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American College of Physicians, and was elected to membership in Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She supports Saint Mary's College through her active roles on her Reunion Gift committees, the Madeleva Society, and as presenter at the New Road - No Rules Seminar. Kathryn received the 1998 Medical Association of Atlanta President's Award for Service and the 1963 M. Mary Elizabeth Award for excellence in chemistry at Saint Mary's College. In 2003 she was awarded the Alumna  Acheivement Award by the Alumnae Association Board of Directors for outstanding personal, professional, and volunteer accomplishments. Her hobbies are oil painting and gardening. Kathryn's husband, Stephen Mettler, graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy and earned a Ph.D. from Purdue University. He retired from Lucent Bell Laboratories and is currently a telecommunications consulatant. Kathryn and Stephen have three children; Stephen (ND '87), Elizabeth (UVA '89) and Donald (U. of Colorado '92). They also have 13 grandchildren.

Genevieve Morrill
Genevieve Morrill '98
Chicago, IL

Genevieve Morrill graduated from Saint Mary's College summa cum laude in 1998 with a double major in history and French. While a student, she served on the Board of Governance and the Student Academic Council; participated in the Play of the Mind Conferences and the Leaders of a New Indiana Project; and was awarded the St. Catherine's Medal. Genevieve then received a Masters Degree in Medieval History from the University of Chicago. She subsequently attended DePaul University College of Law, where she graduated in the top five percent of her class and was an Editor of the DePaul Law Review. During law school, she externed at the federal district and appellate court levels. After being admitted to the Illinois Bar, Genevieve served as a law clerk to four justices of the Maine Superior Court. Following several years in private practice, she became a law clerk to Illinois Appellate Court Justice Rodolfo Garcia. Currently, Genevieve is a Staff Attorney in the Appellate Court's Research Department. She is also an adjunct professor at DePaul, where she teaches Legal Analysis, Research, and Communication. Genevieve is active in the Chicago East Alumnae Club, and served as its Communications Chair for 10 years. She co-chaired Founders' Day and the Spring Tea, organized and hosted cultural, social, and scholarship events, and participated in numerous committees. In 2005, she received the Chicago Club's Founders' Day Award in recognition of her service to the Club and in 2008 she received the Alumnae Association's Outstanding Young Alumna award. Genevieve and her partner Nathan Kay live in Chicago's West Bucktown neighborhood. They enjoy sampling Chicago's restaurants, half-marathons, travel, and renovating their 120-year-old two-flat.

 Priscilla Karle Pilon '86
Houston, TX

Priscilla Karle Pilon '86 graduated with a major in Communications and a double minor in Government and Sociology. Currently she is consulting with marketing companies and freelance writing for her own and other travel blogs. Previously Priscilla worked as a freelance graphic artist, where she worked as a design editor for the Harvard Business School weekly newspaper and co-published The Student Guide to Harvard Business School in 1994. Priscilla is a past President of the Volunteer Roundtable at MD Anderson Cancer Center, past Director on the Board of The Forest Club, and a past Executive Board Member of the Houston Ballet. She has been active in the Houston Alumnae Club since arriving in Houston in 1994. She co-chaired the Ann Plamondon Endowed Fund in Communication Studies for The College. Priscilla resides in Texas with her husband and two sons.

Kimberly Roland
Kimberly Roland '12
Peoria, AZ

Kimberly Roland is a senior, and the sole voting student on the Alumnae Board of Directors. She will earn a BA with majors in Political Science and Humanistic Studies, as well as an Italian minor, in May of 2012. Kimberly has been active all four years while at Saint Mary's, serving in Campus Ministry, as a member of Student Government, Student Diversity Board, Diverse Student Leadership Conference Planning Committee, Political Science Club, Humanistic Studies Club, Friends with Sisters, and Notre Dame College Democrats. She has been politically active during her college years, and has campaigned and canvassed during the 2008 and 2010 elections. A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Kimberly spent her sophomore year abroad in Rome, Italy, and was awarded the Anne Hooper Spataro Rome Program Award for exemplifying the spirit of the SMC Rome Program. She spent the summer of 2011 in Tucson, Arrizona, working as an intern for Critical Path Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating drug development and safety. She worked as an intern with the Coalition for Major Diseases and assisted in qualifying biomarkers for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Kimberly serves as a Student Ambassador, and is currently the Justice Education Department's Intern. She will spend her senior year as a leader of the SMC Sustainable Food Committee while simultaneously serving as a Regional Field Director for Real Food Challenge, a national organization. Upon graduation, Kimberly hopes to enter Law or Graduate School, return to live and work in Italy for a period of time, and ultimately work in government/run for public office.

Dawn Parker Santamaria '81

Dawn Parker Santamaria received a B.B.A. degree in Management and Marketing from Saint Mary's College in 1981. Since the mid-80s, she has been an entrepreneur and small business owner. She is the founder and executive director of Sisters Under Sail, a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit leadership program for teenage girls and women aboard her and her husband's 118-foot tall ship, Unicorn. She has worked in partnership with Saint Mary's for several years, bringing many alumnae together aboard her ship in the Great Lakes region and along the East Coast for leadership sails and receptions. Dawn resurrected the New Jersey alumnae club and has been serving as president since 2005. She has four daughters, two of whom are also Saint Mary's graduates. Dawn and her family reside in New Jersey.

 Barbara Wolfston Urrutia '74
Redwood City, CA

Barbara Wolfston Urrutia
graduated from Saint Mary’s College in 1974 with a BS in Medical Technology. She also has an MBA degree in  Marketing from Santa Clara University. Barbara is a hospital account executive for Quest Diagnostics in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has served her
community through the Junior League of San Francisco and her routine blood donations to the local Blood Bank. She has consistently supported and served Saint Mary’s through her leadership as the San Francisco Alumnae Club president and her participation on the Madeleva Society Steering Committee, her Reunion Gift Campaigns, the Sesquicentennial Gift Campaign  & Co-Chair of her 30th Class Reunion Gift Campaign . Barbara enjoys her role as the social chair at her local tennis club run by volunteers.  She is also is on the board for  the local chapter of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association, a volunteer industry organization. Barbara and her husband Rick have one son
& live in Redwood City, CA with their soft coated Wheaton Terrier, Brogan.

Phyllis Sullivan Van Hersett '62
Littleton, CO

Phyllis Sullivan Van Hersett graduated in 1962 with a B.A. in Social Sciences and minors in Mathematics and Secondary Education. She began her career as a computer programmer for the Department of Defense at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. She established a career in real estate in Dallas, Texas, and Spokane, Washington. She is now an owner of Cornzapoppin, LLC, a gourmet popcorn store in Highlands Ranch, CO. Phyllis and her husband Richard reside in Littleton, CO. They have three children and four grandchildren. Their two daughters, Lynn and Joan, are Saint Mary's graduates.
