Cross-Town Clash Goes to Belles
MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The Saint Mary's College tennis team prevailed in a non-league match against cross-town rival Bethel College by a 7-2 decision on Wednesday.
The Belles started things off on the right foot by sweeping the doubles competitions from the Pilots. Jillian Hurley and Camille Gebert took their match by an 8-4 margin to lead the way at the #1 doubles flight.
The pair both went on to take their singles competitions by winning in two sets. Each only dropped three games with Hurley winning 6-1, 6-2 and Gebert taking the 6-3, 6-0 victory.
Franca Peluso and Jessica Camp earned an 8-5 win at #3 doubles to help set the pace for the Belles.
Betsy Reed also had a strong day, winning at doubles and singles with 8-6 and a dominating 6-0, 6-1. Jessica Kosinski, meanwhile, won at #2 doubles with Reed and then battled to a 6-4, 5-7, 10-5 win at #3 singles.
