November 6, 2007, NOTRE DAME, IN – Sophomore outside hitter Lorna Slupczynski was named to the MIAA Second-Team All-Conference squad at the annual coaches meeting on Monday afternoon.
The native of St. John, Ind., paced Saint Mary’s (13-18, 6-10) all season on both offense and defense. Slupczynski’s 3.41 kills per game average led all Belle attackers and was the eighth best mark in the league. She played in 30 of Saint Mary’s 31 matches this season and had at least 10 kills in 20 of those matches.
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Top seeded Calvin used a balance offensive attack to aid in their 3-0 (30-18, 30-23, 30-23) MIAA Tournament semifinal victory over Saint Mary’s on Friday evening.
Calvin, the nation’s 16th ranked team, advances to the finals of the tournament as they raised their record to 28-4 while Saint Mary’s season ends with a 13-18 mark.
ANGOLA, IN – Fifth seeded Saint Mary’s stunned fourth seeded Tri-State 3-0 (30-19, 30-20, 31-29) Tuesday evening in the first round of the MIAA volleyball tournament.
The win lifts the Belles record to 13-17 while Tri-State’s season ends with a 13-15 mark. The Thunder swept the two regular season match-ups between the two schools.
ANGOLA, IN – In the final regular match for both teams, the Tri-State volleyball team knocked off Saint Mary’s 3-1 (30-26, 30-23, 27-30, 30-22) on Saturday afternoon at Hershey Hall in MIAA action.
The win lifts Tri-State’s record to 13-14 overall and 10-6 in league play while the Belles fall to 13-17 and 6-10 respectively. The two teams will meet again on Tuesday evening in the first round of the league tournament. Tri-State will be the fourth seed while Saint Mary’s is seeded fifth.
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Calvin’s Kristen Kalb (25) and Molly Krikke (23) each posted more than 20 kills in leading the Knights to a 3-1 (30-19, 26-30, 30-25, 30-21) win over Saint Mary’s on Tuesday evening in MIAA volleyball action.
The win lifts the 16th ranked Knights to 22-4 overall and 13-1 in league play while Saint Mary’s falls to 12-16 and 6-9 respectively.
ALMA, MI – Lorna Slupczynski tallied match highs with 16 kills and 30 digs in helping the Saint Mary’s volleyball team to a 3-1 (21-30, 30-19, 30-17, 30-27) win over Alma on Monday evening in MIAA action.
The Belles move to 12-15 overall and 6-8 in MIAA play while Alma falls to 6-21 and 2-13 respectively.
KALAMAZOO, MI – The Saint Mary’s volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-28, 30-27, 30-27) decision to Kalamazoo but rebounded to beat Defiance in a non-conference match 3-0 (30-26, 30-22, 30-25) on Saturday afternoon at the Kalamazoo Triangular.
With the split, the Belles record now stands at 11-15 overall and 5-8 in league play.
NOTRE DAME, IN – In the final home match of the regular season, the Saint Mary’s volleyball team posted a 3-0 (30-25, 30-28, 30-27) win over Albion on Tuesday evening.
The win lifts the Belles record to 10-14 overall and 5-7 in MIAA play while Albion falls to 8-14 and 5-7 respectively.
Volleyball - Saint Mary’s Drops Two at Millikin Invitational (October 13)
DECATUR, IL – In the second day of the Millikin College Invitational the Saint Mary’s volleyball team dropped a pair of matches. In the first match against 19th ranked Central Iowa they lost 3-1 (30-14, 25-30, 30-18, 30-17) and then dropped a 3-0 (30-17, 30-19, 30-24) decision to Millikin in the afternoon.
The Belles now have a 9-14 record.

Volleyball - Saint Mary’s Takes Two in First Day of Invitational (October 12)
DECATUR, IL – During the first day of the Millikin College Invitational the Saint Mary’s College volleyball swept both their matches. In their first match, the Belles knocked off Franklin (Ind.) 3-0 (30-17, 30-22, 30-26) before beating Fontbonne (Iowa) 3-0 (30-23, 37-35, 30-24) in the nightcap.
The win raises the Belles record to 9-12 overall. On Saturday the Belles will face 19th ranked Central Iowa and Millikin in the five-team, two-day event.

NOTRE DAME, IN – Olivet rallied from a two game deficit to beat Saint Mary’s 3-2 (20-30, 29-31, 30-25, 31-29, 18-16) Tuesday evening in MIAA volleyball action.
The win raises the Comets record to 3-19 overall and 2-11 in league play while the Belles fall to 7-12 and 4-7 respectively.

NOTRE DAME, IN – Norak Slenk posted a match high 17 kills in leading Hope to a 3-0 (30-22, 30-22, 30-25) win over Saint Mary’s on Thursday evening in MIAA volleyball action.
Hope raises their record to 12-5 overall and 7-2 in league play while the Belles drop to 7-11 and 4-6 respectively.

Saint Mary’s Drops Adrian in Five Games (October 2)
NOTRE DAME, IN – The Saint Mary’s volleyball team ended a seven match losing streak to Adrian with a thrilling 3-2 (30-24, 28-30, 32-34, 30-22, 15-8) victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday evening.
The win lifts the Belles record to 7-10 overall and 4-5 in MIAA play while Adrian falls to 11-7 and 8-2 respectively.

Volleyball - Saint Mary's Drops Matches to TSU, Bethel (September 29)
In Saturday’s volleyball triangular, Saint Mary’s lost to Tri-State 3-0 (30-20, 30-26, 30-27) in the first match of the day and later dropped a hearting breaking five-game match to Bethel 3-2 (30-24, 25-30, 28-30, 30-27, 15-8).
Saint Mary’s record now stands at 6-10 overall and 3-5 in MIAA play.

Volleyball - #15 Calvin Sweeps Past Saint Mary's (September 25)
Kristen Kalb tallied a match high 17 kills to go along with her 12 digs in helping Calvin sweep past Saint Mary’s 3-0 (30-17, 30-23, 30-25) Tuesday evening in MIAA volleyball action.
For the Belles, Lorna Slupczynski notched a team high 11 kills while Kaela Hellmann tallied eights kill, four service aces and a team best 15 digs.
